MEMBERSHIP

The Dermatology Nurses and Allied Health Professionals group formed in 2006 and incorporated in January 2010 to the New Zealand Dermatology Nurses' Society Incorporated. We are also a registered charity.

Our members come from a wide range of practice backgrounds in public and private clinics and hospitals, from general or specialized areas. We meet together at an annual national conference to share information, for mutual support, networking and inspiration.

There is a nominal yearly fee to become a Full or Associate member and this gives the significant benefit of significantly reduced conference fees. As other related educational opportunities arise, the Secretary for the committee will alert members by email.

Full Members are also able to apply for our yearly scholarships - listed below.

Full members are also able to volunteer to be on the Executive Committee (5 roles), and we try to have regular rollover of these positions (ideally 3 years per position) so all members have an opportunity to give back to the society. Executive Committee members receive free conference registration, plus $400 allowance towards travel and accommodation. The Exec Committee roles are Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, Chairperson Elect or Treasurer Elect (alternate years), and the fifth member assists with social media/networking/website and is on the lookout for other educational opportunities for NZDNS members.

Both Full and Associate members can volunteer for the Conference Organising Committee (3 roles) which is a fantastic way to be involved in the conference and receive free conference registration, plus $400 allowance towards travel and accommodation. The three roles on conference committee are arranging sponsorship, arranging the programme, and venue coordination (AV, catering etc). There is a handbook for guidance on organising the NZDNS conference - no experience in event management is required.

Our annual membership subscription year is 1 April - 31 March.

Full member - $50/year
RN/ENs practicing in NZ. Full members can attend AGM and may vote on society decisions. AGMs are held at our annual conference in August each year.

Associate member - $40/year
Other HCP roles within the field of dermatology (e.g. phototherapy technicians, podiatrists), and for RN/ENs who are practicing outside of NZ. May also attend AGM, but may not vote on society decisions.

The traditional annual scholarships are for registration fees plus an allowance toward accommodation/travel and are for:

1.  NZDNS annual conference - registration + $250 allowance (2 available each year)
2.  Australian Dermatology Nurse Association (ADNA) annual conference - registration + $500 allowance (1 available each year)
3.  International conference of interest - value $2500 towards registration/travel/accommodation (1 available each year).

Applications for the annual scholarships close 28 February each year.

4. Associated educational grants - we have earmarked an allowance for smaller grants which will be assessed on a case by case basis, and may be used to for smaller educational courses which will enhance your nursing practice. These are for $400-600, and can applied for throughout the year.
